General information on the Laboratory
This is a joint lab for the Physics MSc with the Laboratory for structural investigation techniques of Materials Science MSc.
The lab exercises are carried out in the different laboratories of the Institute of Physics. The location of
the measurements and the data of the Lab leaders of the measurements can be found in the menu item "Semester Schedule".
During the semester, physics students are required to take 5 of the 8 measurements above, while materials science
students are required to take all the 8. This means that 5 or 8 measurement exercises must be taken and 5/8 evaluable
(with a grade of better than insufficient) reports must be submitted. The protocols must be submitted to the
instructor in charge of the laboratory exercise within 2 weeks after the measurement. Late submission of the
report will result in a mark of half below the pass mark every weeks.
The measurements are carried out in groups of three students. However, each student will take his/her own report,
even if the data are identical. Copying the record will report in an insufficient mark for all parties.
Laboratory exercises may only be missed in very justified cases (illness, official trip abroad, etc.), and the
absence must be certified. The missed measurement can be made up with another group or at the end of the semester.
There are only a limited number of opportunities for supplementary measurements at the end of the semester!
Before the lab practicals, a short test is required. If it is found that the student is unprepared, he/she will not
be allowed to take the measurement this time.
